Ochoco Divide Campground has become one of our favorite campgrounds when we are headed to Eastern Oregon or when we are coming home from that direction. It is just about an hour from home and makes a great last evening campsite or a place to stay when we start out on our trip late in the day.
Ochoco Divide Campground is located at the top of the Ochoco Divide in an old growth ponderosa pine forest just off scenic U.S. Highway 26 in Oregon.
At an elevation of 4,700 ft., it has the feel of a deep woods campground. The campground is easy to access and nearby recreational activities include birding, hiking, hunting, mountain biking, and nature viewing.
Ochoco Divide Campground is typically open from mid-May through October.
The sites include potable water, tables, fire pits, vault toilets, and a level parking spur for RV or tent site.
The Ochoco Divide Campground is located approximately 20 miles East of the Painted Hills, which makes it a great base camp for the exploring the area.
How to get there.
From Prineville, head east on Highway 26 for approximately 30 miles. Ochoco Divide Campground will be on your right, just past Ochoco Divide Sno-Park and just before the summit.
