We made a late season quick camping trip to Shasta Lake before winterizing the trailer for the holidays. The weather was perfect, a mild 60 degrees and sunny. On the way home we did a shunpiking trip from Medford, OR back to SR 97 on SR 62, 230 and 138. We spent the last night on the road in Medford Oaks RV Park just outside of Medford, OR. The campground was nearly full, but they kept a few spots open for travelers. Most of the amenities were closed this late in the season, but it was clean and easy to pull in for the night.
We had called at least 6 campgrounds in the area and along SR 62 before finding this one. What we learned is that housing shortages in the area have resulted in many people living in the campgrounds around Medford. We are not sure what it is like in the summer season, but at this time of year (first week of November) there are not many choices. However, we were not disappointed in Medford Oaks RV Park and were grateful to find a spot.
Medford Oaks RV Park is privately owned on 28 acres in a beautiful setting overlooking a valley. It is situated under beautiful oak trees. The sites are fairly close together, but our site 2 was a pull through by itself right up front and had a gorgeous view of the valley.
The park has full hookups as well as water and electric sites and tent sites. There are 2 regular cabins and 1 deluxe cabin. The cabins have screen-in porches, bedding and fully equipped small kitchen and bathrooms. There is a large picnic area and a gazebo with a barbecue. A fishing pond, volley ball, basketball court and horse shoe pit make this a perfect place for a family.
The solar heated outdoor pool was closed for the winter, but looked like a lot of fun for the kids. The laundry was clean as were the tiled bathrooms. The showers are coin operated.
How to get there
Medford Oaks RV Park is located on highway 140 in Eagle Point, OR just east of Medford.
